Locals earn All-District soccer honors

The names of numerous local athletes fill the rosters of the 2015 Southeast District Coaches Association All-District soccer teams, with those honors being announced in early November.

In Boys Division III, four local players earned All District First Team honors- North Adams’ Aaron Pertuset and Drew Coppock, Brennan Sims from Peebles, and West Union’s Andre Wolke. Adams County athletes named to the Division III All District Second Team were Ben Figgins and Patrick England from North Adams, Tanner Schmitz from Peebles, and Mac Wilson from West Union.

Earning Honorable Mention in Division III boys were North Adams’ Cole Roades and Lee Hesler, Peebles’ Connor Browning and Kalub Smith, and West Union’s Tyler Swearingen and Jacob Miley.

In Girls Division III, four local athletes were named to the All Southeast District First Team: Cati Butler and Lakyn Hupp from North Adams, Shanien Swango from Peebles, and Heidi Hunter from West Union.

Second Team All District recognition went to Madee Shipley and Allison Harper from North Adams, Caitlyn Bradford from Peebles, and Donna Brodt from West Union. Receiving Honorable Mention in Division III girls were Taylor Wylie and Kitasha Mesmer from North Adams, Amber Renchen and Matti Nichols from Peebles, and West Union’s Madison Welch and Katie Brannock.

The Coaches Association also honored a local assistant coach as North Adams’ Russell Todd was named the Girls Division III “Assistant Coach of the Year.”

The Coaches Association also handed out academic awards with the North Adams girls team receiving a “Team Academic Award” for being a team with at least a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale. The Lady Devil’s Taylor Wylie also earned an All-Academic Award for the Southeast District, given to seniors who have at least a 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
