Suspected black tar heroin discovered during the traffic stop.

A traffic stop by West Union Police led to the arrest of Patrick Shannon who is currently facing a third degree felony charge.

Officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Toni Francis, 25, of Columbus, for a loud exhaust and having only one working headlight. Officers walked their cannine around the vehicle and the dog alerted, prompting a search.

When searching the car officers found several pieces of burnt tin foil wrapped in napkins, a tiny amount of marijuana and 6.2 grams of what is believed to be black tar heroin under the passenger seat.

Shannon was the passenger in the vehicle and is being held on $100,000 bond. Shannon is scheduled to appear in court 10 a.m. Friday, June 19.

In addition, Francis was cited for driving under suspension.
